This innovative and interactive workshop will strengthen your ability to meaningfully and respectfully engage with communities that are not your own, including your local Indigenous Nations, organizations, and collectives. Created by Dr. Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977, the TACARE (“Take Care”) approach for community-centered initiatives provides an adaptable and ethical framework for community-led environmental work to ensure do-no-harm approaches are at the forefront of any conservation projects. Embark on a Roots & Shoots journey to engage youth and elders alike in community mapping, learning along the way how to meaningfully integrate Indigenous knowledge systems. Attendees will also learn how to address the intersection of biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental inequity through the lens of OneHealth, two-eyed seeing, and ethical space
