This presentation explores the many ways that the 2023 fire season in BC has affected us including cultural, societal, political, environmental and economic impacts. This fire season was not an anomaly and climate and fire research strongly suggest that we will experience similar and worse conditions in coming decades. However, I will also demonstrate that with a concerted effort, at the appropriate scale and pace, we can significantly influence future fire impacts.
