Salina Derish is a dedicated environmental advocate and sustainable living educator. Known for her "attainable and sustainable" initiatives in low waste living, Salina has become a go-to figure in the environmental community. As the founder of PickEco Refills, the Fraser Valley's first zero-waste grocery store, Salina has played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the way people approach their daily consumption. Her commitment to reducing waste and fostering eco-friendly practices extends beyond her business ventures.
Salina is one of the founding directors of the Downtown Chilliwack Market Society, contributing to the development and enhancement of the local agricultural sector that prioritizes food security and sustainability. Additionally, she is the President PickEco Zero Waste Society, a not-for-profit organization focused on creating awareness and driving initiatives to minimize environmental impact through waste reduction, proper waste management and good old fashioned, boots on the ground cleanups.
When she's not working on environmental initiatives, Salina loves spending time outdoors with her children and friends. Her go-to activities are hitting the trails for a hike and freediving for a bit of underwater adventure and to collect trash, and no matter where she is, above or below the water, she's always on the hunt for litter.
